Be thankful every day.

“We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.”

John F. Kennedy

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. It’s a day when we celebrate all that we are thankful for. Being thankful for what you have and have not, helps you deal with the good and the bad, both at home and at work. In positive psychology research, gratitude correlates with greater happiness and improved health. When we are grateful it makes us feel more positive.

When my wife and I arrived in Florida from South Africa to start TheHomeMag, we had many challenges with the business and staffing. No one reaches success on their own. Your team foretells your future. We succeeded with the help of friends, family, co-workers, partners, and acquaintances. We continue to be grateful to everyone who participated positively in our journey.

Today our Florida operations is challenged by the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. We are fortunate that everyone at TheHomeMag survived. They have many obstacles ahead. We are all pulling together to support them in whatever way we can. The Florida team rose to the occasion and got business back up running with the help from co-workers, business associates, family, friends, and neighbors. Disasters like this one make you realize what is truly important in life, and that is each other.

Our Florida people are thanking their lucky stars every day. We should all do so as well. Remember to thank your team not just around the holidays but all year long. Giving thanks lifts everyone’s spirits. Develop an attitude of gratitude and you will feel more joyful, improve your health, and build strong relationships.

“The heart that gives thanks is a happy one, for we cannot feel thankful and unhappy at the same time.” — Douglas Wood

Many years ago, someone gave me golden advice. You don’t have a business unless you surround yourself with great people to help make it all happen. I am grateful for the team I have locally and for all the HomeMaggers across this great land. It’s wonderful to be part of a company of smart, strong, resilient people.

To my Team – I am grateful for all of you. Happy Thanksgiving!
